Tonight, Bette Belle Smith passed away. Modesto lost an icon, she served our community selflessly for so many years, what will we do without her? She was my father’s cousin, and many of my memories are wrapped around her, she’d always come to our family Christmas parties dressed as Mrs. Santa. And that Omega Nu shortbread tasted better because she delivered it. Tonight she went to Heaven, one year and one day after my dad passed…I think he was there to greet her. So while we mourn, Heaven rejoices that Bette Belle has come home. Here’s a few photos in tribute. My love to the family… T
