Wedding at the Terra Gallery San Francisco

I thought I’d have the holiday weekend off…but when Jorge Ortega of Flower Studio (209-575-0102) asked me to photograph his designs for the wedding he was doing at the Terra Gallery in San Francisco www.terrasf.com  I couldn’t say no…sometimes vendors don’t receive enough photos from the photographer.  I was there the entire day shooting the installation…all I can say is: professional (and good) coordinators/florists are worth every penny.  Just like professional (and good) photographers are worth every penny – because when the wedding is over, the photographs are the only thing that show what your day was like….they’re not worth gambling over.

When I said I stayed the whole day I meant it.  We left the gallery after everything was cleaned up, put away…around 2:00am!  It was a gorgeous wedding Jorge…and DJ George from Sounds in Motion did the up-lighting…again…beautiful!  Love you guys…

So the gallery started like the photo on the left for the ceremony…and 1 hour and 30 minutes later ended up looking like what you see in the photo on the right for the reception.  The guests were in a different part of the gallery enjoying cocktails while the crew worked furiously.  I now have a whole new appreciation for what goes on behind the scenes.  I’ve been photographing weddings for over ten years yet I’ve never had the chance to observe the transformation because I’m doing portraits during cocktails.  Besides, it’s rare for the ceremony and reception to take place in the same room.  This was a real treat.  Enjoy the photos…

…and this shot, outside the Terra Gallery, looking up.  By nightfall, the buildings were shrouded in fog.

…and this is how the crew got through the day/night…Red Bull gives you…Red Bull makes it possible for your head not to explode?
