The worth of a photograph

Newborn babies…it’s wonderful being in the presence of one.  I’ve had four of my own, and those first few days with a newborn were some of the most spiritual, emotional, exhausting, and sweetest times of my life.  I always took their portraits within 3 or 4 days because they lose the newborn look after about 10 days.  As we know, time flies…my oldest...

Favorite Shots from 2009

Time to share some of my favorite images from various 2009 weddings, portraits, and personal work.  All art is personal so these are some of my favs for personal reasons.  I don’t try to please the masses…the moment an artist tries to please everyone it means they have nothing to say.  I tend to look up at the sky a lot and was blessed with...

All I want for Christmas is…time to blog and post photos of cute kids.

Ok…I have two hands, one brain, four kids, and only so many hours in the day….truth be told, I can’t post everyone.  I’d love to be a full-time blogger but that would really cut into the photography (oh to be the Pioneer Woman).  So, enough about my jam-packed life.  Christmas wishes aside, here’s a few shots of cute kids, Brandy’s...

Melissa + Dave

Melissa and Dave did their engagement session in Knight’s Ferry where Dave grew up.  Every time a car went by he knew the person driving it!  This was a beautiful fall day, my favorite time of the year… Love the General Store…

Beautiful Autumn

A few images of my travels, near and far.  The trees were photographed right outside my door, some already stripped bare from those wind storms.  The doorways are definitely not nearby.  Pumpkins are local. The Pumpkin Queen, and her loyal subjects on the right.  (Morticia Addams designed her dress)

Katharine Millie

The sun was setting quickly as we took these portraits, we were losing light…but it actually helped the images speak fall’s beauty.  Colors, sounds, the sky, become muted in autumn twilight.  All year I look forward to this season…turning leaves, the earth folding inward for a long winter’s rest.  It’s a perfect time for richly textured and moody photographs.  Katharine’s clothing was specifically chosen, and definitely illustrates...

Kris

I’ve known Kris since I was five years old and I’ve loved her ever since!  She asked me to come out and photograph her with her horse.  She raised her from a baby…  It was a hot night and after she took off the halter and turned her out into the field with the other...
